High above Mácher, with nothing between you and the view.
Villa Alcalde stands above Mácher, a working Canarian town four kilometres inland from Puerto del Carmen and about fifteen minutes from the airport. From the terraces you look across the Atlantic, towards the sun going down behind the volcanoes of the national park, and along to the lights of Puerto Calero and Arrecife.
It sits in a quiet cul-de-sac. There's a supermarket under 500 metres away and a restaurant many locals rate as the island's best within a five-minute walk. A car is worth hiring and we can arrange one, though the local taxi service is good and the airport run costs around €10–15.
Amenities
The living floor
Open plan across the first floor — lounge, dining room, kitchen — with glass doors onto terraces running the full length of the house on two sides. There's a separate TV room off it.
Seven bedrooms
Three super king, two king and two twin, all ensuite. Six are at ground level, one of them in an outbuilding beside the house; the seventh is upstairs, next to the snug that converts to an eighth.
Two kitchens
The main kitchen is part of the living floor and fully equipped. The second is outside by the fire pit, so cooking outdoors for fourteen is easy.
The heated pool
Twelve metres, heated year-round, sunk into a stone-walled hollow that shelters it on the island's windier days. Fully enclosed and gated.
The hot tub
Raised on its own deck in the main garden, facing the volcanoes and the ocean.
Fire pit and barbecue
A large stone barbecue in the middle of the garden, with the outdoor kitchen and the dining area around it. We can recommend a chef or caterer if you would rather not cook.
Games
A pool table and a table tennis table, both outside. The grounds are big enough that nobody has to be part of the tournament.
The practical things
Wi-fi throughout, washing machine and dryer, dishwasher, safe, private parking behind a walled gate, and all linen and towels — beach and pool included.

Fourteen kilometres west of Arrecife and four north of Puerto del Carmen. Far enough out to feel like the real Lanzarote; close enough that the beaches, the ferry and the airport are all short drives.
